Lake Hartwell Retreat

Let the framing begin!!!
After we poured the foundation walls we had to wait for the walls to cure before we could back fill. Once the back fill was complete we brought in some gravel for the driveway and spread  wheat straw around the perimeter of the foundation. This helps to keep the job site clean and organized.
The next day we had our first load of lumber delivered to the site and we didn't waste any time getting the framing started.   We are using an engineered I- joist floor system on the both the main and second floors. This type of floor ensures a truly flat floor with no squeaks.  The exterior walls will be 2x6 to allow for greater insulation.
Here we are installing the walls on the main level. In this picture you can see the Advantech sub floor. This product is impervious to water. We glue and screw our sub floor down to the floor joists to increase strength and to reduce squeaks.
Here is a birdseye view from the front. The house is starting to take shape.
Looking at the house from the lakeside. Its getting taller and we have one more level to go! We have started installing the floor system for the upper floor.
Stay tuned for more pictures......
